Rugby Development Program

The Fury Motor Group, in association with the Golden Lions Rugby Union amateur division, sponsor a large number of schools falling within development structures, as an ongoing commitment to community involvement and rugby development. Since the introduction of the program in 2007, the Fury Motor Group has supplied over R3 million worth of rugby kit and equipment and have helped the various schools, teams and related community organisations raise in excess of R5 million, which has been used for many diverse projects from team tours to the building of classrooms and the purchase of sports equipment. This money is raised through the annual sponsorship of a motor vehicle that is raffled for the sole, and total, benefit of the organisations selling the raffle tickets.

Our group also sponsors five Goldon Lions Presidential XV teams, selected primarily from the non-mainstream rugby playing schools and development structures, who represent the GLRU at the major school-rugby festivals each year. This initiative allows boys that would not normally have this high level rugby exposure, to also participate and show their skills on a prestigious rugby stage.
