LumoHawk was founded in 2010 by Joel Stransky, at which time the fundraising began. The foundation was formalised in 2013. To date, LumoHawk have maintained an ad hoc approach to many projects, and all projects involve educational needs of under-privileged children. The foundation has no overheads.

And the ultimate goal, through this, is to achieve Madiba's legacy of educating our nation.
